Fotasy FD to NEX adapter problem

In April I purchased a Fotasy FD to NEX adapter to use my legacy Canon lenses with my Sony NEX7 camera.  Until today I didn't get a chance to use it. I had bought the Sigma 30mm F2.8 DN ART and the Sigma 60mm f2.8 DN ART to use with that camera. They were fantastic. However last week I upgraded to a Sony A7 camera and today I wanted to try out my Canon 28mm f2.8 and my Canon 50mm f1.8 that I had laying around the house.

I grab the Fotasy FD to NEX adapter, mount my lens then I attach it to the camera.  It works wonderful. Few shots later I realize that regardless what aperture i set the ring on, the lens remained  at f2.8. Of Course i got mad. Opened up my Amazon page ready to send the seller a message about the defective product. After all these lenses were tested on my Canon AE-1 Program. They performed as expected.  I look at the reviews for these adapters and over 1300 of them give them 4 or 5 star.

What are the chances that my adapter is bad?

I'm thinking this is a $13 adapter, I don't really want to pay $6 to ship it back to the seller and wait for a new one. Ugh!!

After further investigation I came to the conclusion that my adapter was set up wrong. The pin that is supposed to move the lever that sets the aperture was mounted in the incorrect position. With a few quick twists of a screwdriver I manage to reset the pin to the other side. Problem solved.

Now I get to enjoy full control over the aperture on my old Canon lenses. If you have this problem, with your Fotasy FD to NEX adapter make sure you check the position of the pin and move it. I know it saved me a lot of trouble and I'm writing this in hopes to save you some time.  Good luck, and leave a comment below if you have run into this. Im curious received this adapter set up incorrectly.

If you are thinking about buying one of these for yourself.. do not hesitate, they are all metal well built and fit very well. I also have the nikon version and that one was flawless out of the box. Two thumbs up Fotasy,
